4 Great Chrome Apps for Student Researchers - Kang Khoe

November 10, 2016
Below are four excellent Chrome extensions you can use to curate, save and share online content. They allow you to highlight specific portions of text, add comments and notes, clip interesting parts of content and save it for later use. Some of these apps enable you to organize your clipped content into visually attractive cards with the ability to include bibliographical information of each clipped item. This is especially ideal for research students. We invite you to check them out and as always share with us your feedback. Enjoy

1- Candy

This is an interesting Chrome extension that allows you to curate, save and organize online content.  You curated content is highlighted and saved in cards that include key information such as bibliographical data (e.g author, source, notes..etc). Other interesting features provided by Candy include” : search saved content for selected texts or data, arrange cards into storylines, save multiple highlights from a web page together, Candy runs offline too…and many more.

2- Notebook Web Clipper

Clip content from the web to your Notebook with Web Clipper. Clipped content, saved as Note Cards, are immediately synced across your devices… Web Clipper also allows you to  ‘create a quick note from scratch right from your browser. You can also add photos directly from your computer to Web Clipper.’

3- Liner- Private Web/PDF Highlighter

‘Liner saves all your highlights made across mobile and desktop. Share highlighted pages instead of sharing the entire article. Leave sentence-level feedback on web pages by leaving comments on the highlights itself. Highlight Everything with Liner.’

4- Note Anywhere

Note Anywhere is a great note taking tool to use on your browser. It is not as powerful as Evernote or Google Keep but this Chrome app has some interesting distinctive features. It allows you to easily make notes anywhere  on a webpage. And even when you close the webpage and come back to it the notes load automatically. This is definitely a great tool for annotating content you curate online.
